Self-Designed Major: Individually Designed/Interdisciplinary Studies
University of Wisconsin - Superior
09/05/2012
The self-designed major gives students the flexibility of designing their own major to suit their unique interests and career goals. Working closely with an advisor, students choose classes from a variety of subjects to create a custom course of study. UW-Superior offers the oldest and most-established self-designed major program in the UW System... Students may choose from the following options: Interdisciplinary - Comprehensive (no minor required) minimum 51 credits, 22 of which must be upper division and must be interdisciplinary with at least three, but no more than four separate discipline areas. Individually-Designed - Non-comprehensive (minor required) minimum 33 credits, 18 of which must be upper division. May be either interdisciplinary or only one discipline. Courses may include online, hybrid or on-campus (depending on areas of study and modalities offered), and upon approval, students name their own major with the title appearing on their official transcript.
